I think im on strike 3 here... first 2 times the electric park brake would get stuck and show up as a system fail I got away with re-tensioning the cable. I think its time I got the system replaced but $1500 for a park brake is a heart breaker!!!

Anyone got around this cheaper or am I going to have to cancel our chicken roast on sunday night :(

Common problem on the D3's have a look on the AULRO forum and you will find an answer. It generally is cheaper to get the work done by a LR independent

Got to keep them clean, you should look at servicing the EPB drums, dirt in there is the major cause of them failing, have them serviced when you have the car serviced;)

oh shyte, something to look forward to. I'd better gee up my mechanic so he knows what to do.
I don't take to LR especially the one in town as they are a rip off.
taking to them next for some warranty work. a recall on the air compressor. that will be number 4 compressor or whatever makes the same warning come on. Also the wind mechanism for the spare doesn't like bulldust and is seized.

They have a new update compressor now, the old Japanese compressor is redundant and the new one is an AMK from Germany, no dryer in the new one continuous duty cycle.

I take our D4 to an independent specialist, half the price of the dealer, get the spare out from under the rear and get a Dolium rear wheel carrier;)

You can get an overhaul kit for the compressor too from the UK. I did mine and its still going strong.

The kit replaces the seals and air filters and dryer.

Have a look at the latest Commodes - I hired one in Darwin and the stupid electric "handbrake" just about did my head in.

There is a mechanical release under a plastic cover in the centre console.
ANYONE who owns one of these mechanical works of art with all kinds of electronic wizardry should do themselves a favour and do the "Green Oval Experience'' course put on by 1 of the members of AULRO or at the very least buy his bible which covers all the get out of jail cards which there are a lot. His course and book shows how to get the most out of the new Land Rovers and how to reset and fix nearly every electrical and / or mechanical gremlin on the side of the road and with the correct knowledge and a scan tool makes these possibly the most comfortable, capable and reliable touring vehicles on the market.
Flame suit is on:D:p
