After Queens Birthday Weekend, comes the time of the year that I hate . The closing of Tracks until the end of October , and now because of Black Saturdays fires, some all year round tracks will be closed because of all the dead timber .

If anyone knows of an area that that is accessable and will be of interest to the active members of the forum then please let us know . This includes day trips .

For people new to the 4WD scene , a suggestion that I have would be at our ( LOOSE NUTS 4WD GROUP ) miners cottage at Lima East near Swanpool, for those who are geographically challenged, nearly halfway between Mansfield and Benalla . The deal is, everyone pays $8.00 per head for the weekend, that just to help with upkeep, electricity and bottled gas, also everyone brings up 20 litres of water , what isnt use for consumption and cooking is poured into the water tank- there is shower and toilet, wood stove and outside barbeque . You are asked to be quick with the shower as water is only mainly roof collection and nowadays the little creek we pump from has dried up- if you are taking too long with a shower, you run the danger of having half a bucket of water coming over the top of you, we love those ear piercing screams !

The nearest 4X4 tracks are up in the Strathbogies and are mild most of the time, this is where we take our new chums for a bit of tuition although for those who want something gutsy , a few tracks in the pine forest area to the south can be bunghole puckering .

The cottage, has basically 2 bedrooms and a built in porch, in winter can sleep 10 plus if someone wants to put their swag out in the lounge at the foot of the sofa bed, 11.

Just register your name if you are interested in this at all !

No Mate , just seeing anyone is interested but sometime in the off months , From Gippy I would come over the top via Matlock, Jamiseon to Mansfield .

In the summer months , we have had a couple of camper trailers and swags galore in the front yardin the back yard as well and could fit about 7 vehicles in the holding yard

G'day Bushnut,
Plenty of day or weekend trips in the area between Neerim South and west of Erica and Rawson. Camping areas are plenty and can fit anywhere from just 2 or 3 vehicle and tents through to a dozen of more. A lot of tracks too, very few of which get closed over winter. I have started to put a few of the tracks up in the tracks section and will add more in coming weeks.

Wouldn't mind a weekend up at the ' Loose Nuts ' cottage sometime over winter either if a few were interested. Any fishing in Lake Nilacootie ( got the tinnie and 25 Merc that travels on the roof......not a speedboat, but zips along pretty well )

Yeah, see plenty of fishing boats out there, never fished it myself,

When we get past Queens birthday and Middle Earth I put a few dates up and see who wants what !
