Dual Fuel or Diesel

I am planning Diesel for the next 4by. The Patrol 4.2 diesel goes well even while towing a Patrol on a trailer behind it. Touring Oz, Diesel is more readily available in remove areas.

Don't get me wrong I am a diesel man through and through but I am just seeing what everyone else thinks.

I am looking at this one as basicaly a off road rig. It won't be a daily and we will use our current Patrol (4.2) for touring.

I supose the question should have been put as off road which fuel type do we prefer.

Cheers

The 4.2 diesel is a reliable workhorse that if looked after will see you through many hundred thousand KLM, has plenty of power and torque and plenty of aftermarket mods if you want more, plus the 4.2 patrols hold value far better than the petrol versions.
The petrol is a good vehicle for towing a caravan or horse float but will empty your wallet quick on fuel costs when under load.
As people mention earlier in the thread " it depends on intended use" if you are going to do some trips to the interior or deserts where unleaded is not always available then the diesel is a def advantage.

I am Diesels biased:p

My 13B-T Cruiser has plenty of get up and go. No lack of power for me. If you choose the right gear to get up that hill there is no stopping a Diesel. Sure, it might not lay down rubber at the lights in town or break any speed records but I rarely go faster than 40 or 50k's and hour on the tracks in the bush. Go the diesel. More torque and better fuel economy.

Cheers Earth!!!!

If you asked me this question a couple of years ago I would have said diesel, but now i'm the converted, petrol all the way, my old diesel 80 series got 12L/100k, now i've got a petrol Prado and get the same, sometimes better, and it is much easier to overtake slower vehicles, you just have so many more revs to work with and it is much easier to drive, less servicing, and you have fuel bowsers that are under cover when it is raining (that used to piss me off so much) you also have more choise of bowsers and there is the price war on petrol. So if you work it right petrol can be cheaper than diesel.
