Do you use OziExplorer?

I am trying to find out how many members on the forum use OxiExplorerPC or OziExplorerCE for trip planning or as moving map software.

I like to overlay my Mapsource trip data onto Google Earth.
Then if I want to print a very accurate 'Mudmap' I link from Google Earth to "View in Google Maps" (under 'file' in menu bar) and select 'Terrain" for a reasonable Topo view.

Anyone tried the 'flight simulator' in Google Earth?
Its under 'Tools' in the menu bar & well worth a try. ;)

use ozi and oziexplorer ce. Find it quite useful in planning routes to explore. Do the research on the laptop at home and transfer it to the PDA for use in the car.

I know what you mean, I tend to do most of my research on my desktop as the connection to my old GPS receiver is RS232 and the converter I got for USB doesn't always get recognised by the laptop. I just transfer it across so that I can reference it all on the trail.
This also allows me to download and print off relevant track notes found on-line. I can set the GPS to alert me of approaching features or turns and simply enjoy the scenery without worrying that I may have missed something.

I started using GPS Tuner on my pocket PC but found it used too much memory and would fail often. So I then tried oziexplorer, and although the interface doesn't look quite as nice, the performance is excellent and I've had no issues - there are also a bucket of features with that app.

Ised to use a PDA with Oziexplorer CE on it, and while its possible to get away without oziexplorer on the pc if you use it on the pda, its difficult. you can do some stuff with google earth and convert, if you cant afford it, but its a hassle.

I have now switched to using Oziexplorer on a eeepc integrated into the car (will post details when the build is finished) and I cant find another app that has the functionality to replace it - possibly I am not looking hard as I like oziexplorer for the most part :D

I have in in car PC mounted in the 2DIN slot.

But I plan on a laptop using Ozi and google earth.

CarPC also has destinator - which is pretty average

I use OziExp on laptop to maintain waypoint files of locations of interest, must see places, etc and put together trips generally by creating .plt files which are then loaded into the VMS in dash unit (running Imbedded OziExplorer) via SDHC card.

I run a Magellan 600 series linked to laptop running mapsend lite version 2 when I want to see a larger area, normally just use the 600 gps.

I use a PDA with Ozi CE and my laptop (12" HP with bluetooth) running Ozi. I'm happy with both and use them all the time.

Im just getting into Oziexporer and finding it a bit daunting. The Polaris seems to run it fine, looking forward to Otooles to get a bit more know how on it.
