Diff Breathers... Help.

So I am trying to source the parts to install breathers on the hilux when I have some time... but cannot find the right size connection to replace the stock breather where the new hose will attach to the Diff.
I have tried Repco, Autobarn and Bunnings...

Anyone know where i need to look... pretty sure the thread is 10mm x 1.0

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I don't if a hilux is different to a Patrol, but I just bought 12 metres of the right I/D hose and 4 fuel filters. Pulled old breathers off and replaced. I used zip ties to secure. They have'nt leaked yet. Did both diffs, transfer and gear box. The hose just slipped over the fitting in the diff??

Are toyota's different somehow?????

I removed the original fitting and its just a 10mm screw in piece with a spring loaded cap... the only solution I can come up with is to rip the spring loaded cap off and attach the Hose.. but not sure if there is enough room to fix the hose on tightly... the cap is pretty small.

Sorry, I thought it would have at least a hose up to the chassis rail or something. That's where the patrol has it's.

My advise would be to check out the wreckers, u may be lucky enough to find how others have over come this problem and perhaps even find the bits u require mate.

On my 2007 Hilux, I used a genuine Toyota part. Here is a pic of the bag it came in together with the breather bits I replaced. You should be able to read the part number. It cost me about $7.00

The diff thread is an imperial BSB tapered one and you should be able to buy an air hose barbed fitting. I have heard unconfirmed reports that brass can react with the diff oil. I know you can get stainless barb fittings from Tony Powell Hose and Fittings Pty Ltd but because the genuine part was so cheap it was not worth my while buying a fitting.

I ran the hose up to the front, teed into the front breather. I used a plastic T piece as one of the hose guys said susing a nice light fitting was good in a suspended hose on a vibrating vehicle.

and finished it up behind the engine block up high on the firewall.

I too was amazed to find an imperial BSP thread on a Japanese car. I think you will find it is imperial. Might be 3/8". Pull the breather out and take it to a shop that sells air hose fittings and try it for size in a female thread. You might just be surprised :)

I didn't do them, the auto gearbox is meant to be hard to get area (I am told). The manual shows the breathers on at the gear sticks. It would mean water is 6 - 12" up my door to get to the breathers
