That's the thing - I'm no longer sure of that. The salesman already suggested 4 times over phone that I take back my deposit and walk.Keep in mind the dealer wants to make a sale so are not going to use this frivolously

If you can get your deposit back - Take it and try again somewhere else. That's the thing - I'm no longer sure of that. The salesman already suggested 4 times over phone that I take back my deposit and walk.
Its good to have a win on a new car Sean , the only time I got a smoking deal on a new car was in 2005 . On a BA MkII XR8 ute , bought it on the last sunday of the month . They had it on the showroom floor , was fully optioned with the works for the time. The BF model upgrade had just came out and they needed to clear it.i had a similar type of dealings with a new car, but the other way around, the dealer made the mistake, and we came out on top,
back in 2010, we went to the local Holden Dealer and ordered a new VE SS, with the optional G8 Pack, you might know the one's with the Pontiac Style grill, low boot spoiler, and special tail lights, we up-graded it to a hamburger with the lot, Stereo, Dash, Gangsta tint and so on,
come pick-up day we rock in, go to pay the remainder, and the dealer, say's, Whoop's, we forgot to tick the box for the G8 pack, worth about $2K
ahh well he said, it must be your lucky day, we can only charge you for the original quote, so it looks like you get that for free.
let's just say, payed what was owing and i drove out of that dealership very quickly,![]()
I don't think a deal where you end up with a Ford can be called a smoking deal can it?Its good to have a win on a new car Sean , the only time I got a smoking deal on a new car was in 2005 . Id already been scoping it without paying any interest (to them) whilst looking around elsewhere at other dealers stock.
Timed it to perfection , walked in at 2.30pm and bent them over for a change and got the deal I wanted there and then View attachment 54662![]()

Bet he won't point out the faults in an Amarok , search the web and you'll find faults with every car .....
What was the outcome of your predicament? Thanks Choook! Gave them a call, they hooked me up with lawyers, who can even give me a free legal advise.

Interesting thread. I wonder if in regard to point (a) above whether you could argue that the recommended retail price of the vehicle you contracted to buy hasn't in fact changed but that if it's a different spec for the same "model" then it's not what you entered into...maybe that's why Toyota won't confirm the change of spec.....but they can't be trusted I think that's agreedHah. Here's what all of us sign when we purchase a new vehicle (was told these T&Cs are pretty match the same everywhere):
1. The Purchase Price of the motor vehicle is the amount shown as Total
Amount Payable” in Section A.
(a) The purchase price may be varied if before the delivery of the motor vehicle there
is a change in the manufacturers recommended retail price, statutory charges or
applicable taxes and duties. The Dealer shall give the Customer written notice of
any variations in the purchase price. If the purchase price is varied due to an
increase in the recommended retail price, the Customer may rescind this contract
any time within three (3) days after receipt of the written notice of variation.
The implication is: a) They can do whatever they want with the price even after the contract is signed. b) If you don't walk away within three days after receiving the written notice, the contract stands, meaning you are automatically liable to pay the new price.
We have no rights basically.
They found the color I originally asked for for the price I signed for. What was the outcome of your predicament?
