Can anyone help us out. My brother inlaw has New D Max with stocko wheels and suspension and wants to go with either 265 70 r16 or 265 75 r16 all terrain tyre and needs to know if they will fit without scrubbing. Its 99% on road use.

what size are they standard??? if its a road queen why change tyres size, your only going to get dissapointments with it, worse fuel economy, slower to take off, worse to tow with etc

Standard size is 245 70 r16. Reason for going larger is because he would like to start using it off road more... If his misses will let him..

I have swapped my 17in alloys for 265/75/16 BFGoodrich A/T's (steel rims) for the holidays with no lift and no scrubbing.

Im running 275/65R18 Hankook RT03 with a 50mm lift and I have had some rubbing issues. These have all been cleared up with a very accurate and clever wheel alignment. These are 2" over OR size and YES they ride hard, they have killed the fuel eco (8.2lt/100 with OE and now 10.8lt/100 with the RT03s on) and low end take is sluggish. but top end freeway cruising is very compliant.

I generally don't recommend changing tyre size, especially without at least a spring lift. The manufacture OE is there for a reason. ITS WORKS THE BEST. Changing the type of tyre IE from a standard OE highway tread to an AT or MT, staying with the OE size, will still represent a gain in traction, naturally.

I have 265/70R16 tyres on my 2013 Dmax.
I had them fitted when it was brand new with standard suspension without issues.
Now I have a 2 inch lift with heavier springs.

Put 245 /75 / 16 on my 2011 max. glad I didn't go any bigger, knocked about 10% + power from it so much so that had to chip it, but having said that will not go back to OE size. max is lifted and no scrubbing at all.
cheers

Running BFG 225/70 R16 KM2 Muddies on my 2009 LSU - increased fuel consumption a little bit around town but all very acceptable on highway ,
