CSR2025 Trip Planning - Questions on sidetracks?

Guys...
Just starting the prepping for our CSR2025 trip, I was wondering if the following places along the CSR are worth the detour to check them out:
  1. - CSR North Pool - 20km return (S26.44619° E120.14784°)
  2. - Biella Spring Carpark - 4kms return (S23.76394° E122.45401°)
  3. - Diebil Spring Carpark - 37km return (S23.60744° E122.37550°)
  4. - Diebil Spring - walk to (S23.61126° E122.37788°)
  5. - Diebil Spring/Claypan (Trk end) - 41km return (S23.62856° E122.35289°)
  6. - Onegunya Rockhole - 10km return (S23.55258° E122.56883°)
  7. - Separation Well - 60km return (S22.85081° E124.01595°) - This one is a bit of a way to check out & from GE it doesn't look much, so is this really worth it?
  8. - Nangabbittajarra Native Well - 11km return (S22.46053° E124.06792°)
  9. - Mujingerra Cave - 7km return (S22.52313° E124.16449°)
  10. - Nurgura Well - 3km return (S22.51864° E124.31091°)
  11. - Wullowla Well - 8km return (S22.55378° E124.42497°)
  12. - Mallowa Native Well - 4.5km return (S22.38627° E124.57603°)
  13. - Helena Spring Area - 160km return (S22.85081° E124.01595°) - This one is a LONG WAY to check out, so is this really worth it?

Also, is it worth a detour at the Talawana/CSR Track Jct to head west to check out the Rundall NP? Some have mentioned that the tracks are VERY corrugated but I guess it couldn't be any worse from the corrugations on the CSR itself?

thanks in advance...

Hey Rob. We walked to Diebil Spring from the carpark in 2018. The area between carpark and spring had recently been burnt and there was no definable track so took a bit of exploring/trudging to find the spring. It was nice but not sure if worth the effort that day. Maybe easier with a track to follow. From memory, the “carpark” would have made a good overnight campsite.
The track into the spring from the main track was pretty rocky and slow in parts and very overgrown in places.

Hi Rob,
CSR North Pool definitely as a starter to the trip, really nice area

Some of the areas you are looking at may not be accessible, unfortunately the TOs have closed off some areas - quite rightly, some people were actually chiselling off or just plain defacing Aboriginal Artworks and leaving shit in these areas.

From memory, I don't think you can access Biella Springs

I tried to get to Desert Queens Baths but a triangular rock pierced a tyre and took out a huge chunk of the sidewall - that's when the trouble started as the dust is like talc and the wheelnuts came loose, stuffed the rim, snapped the studs 3/5 and resulted in me flatbedding it to Port Hedland.

Pierre Spings is a great spot to stop, as is Durba Springs and Georgia Bore

Personally I think the Southern section is fantastic but the Northern section becomes more open, good camping spots and firewood become scarce

Thanks for that... on another CSR Group, a few mentioned that is was worth a visit but maybe things were a bit greener for them? From what i can see on GE, there is a track that continues south and basically stops at a claypan &/or Spring - do u know much about this ?

The top green marker (and camera marker) is the carpark. The lower green marker is the spring but I thought it was more to the west (left), more into the gully/gorge.

There are 3 green markers with the carpark being the top and "I thought" the one closest to it might be the spring (only guessing here). but the one way south on the edge of a claypan is the one I'm referring to... is this also the one you're referring to in your comment "The lower green marker is the spring but I thought it was more to the west (left)"
The road/carpark can be seen easily but spring I assume u have to walk to and is up in the gully/gorge area somewhere. I'm not sure what is around the claypan though....

The green marker due south(ish) of the carpark is the one I am referring to. I didn’t even notice the third green marker until now :)
