its because millions traveled for thanks giving and had big gatherings to celebrate but I guess that is Trumps fault as well, either that or those who are seeing what the virus does and how it behaves are still deciding to go about their lives because it is not the killer many would have society believe

Well thanks to abysmal leadership, pig headedness and downright stupidity the people of America are in for a catastrophic 2021. The hospitals are near capacity and there are still millions in denial. Health system on the verge of collapse with front line workers worn out and frustrated with the actions of some. Naturally the flow on effect will reach elsewhere in the world. So bloody lucky we are an island but I,m afraid the economic outlook isnt good...particularly as China is playing bully boy.

Well I hate to say it but I think NSW is in for more lockdowns. Complacency perhaps. It was inevitable that more outbreaks would occur but how they get handled is the issue. Many peoples XMAS plans will be shot down and many unhappy kids as well. Hope everyone does the right thing and minimal disruption occurs. It will be a way of life for many months to come. Xmas is supposed to be a time of sharing and caring...so I hope people think about that and care enough not to go sharing their virus !!! Stay safe and hope whatever happens hope you have some sort of a good Xmas.

It will be like this for years to come because the same as influenza even with vaccines it will not go away and will continually mutate making the last years vaccine useless.
The human race needs to just accept this is the new normal

Obviously the strain being of USA origin the source is from either air cabin crew or similar who were not required to isolate or quarantine.

They have been staying in hotels other than those where quarantine in happening

They(NSW health) should have been onto any loopholes or areas where a transfer could happen but it doesnt seem like they learn :confused:

We were doing so well all over the country it was pretty much the only way another outbreak was going to occur, said it last week to a work colleague, hotel quarantine was the place that will bring any state undone & a day or 2 later it happened.

Re reading this thread makes an interesting read, and an interesting review of 2020. It shows how wrong many many theories and predictions were.

It also shows how some strong stances have flip flopped 180 degrees since the pandemic started. LOL

It does give some interesting insights.

Maybe it's opposites year.

Because of Biden and the vaccine, USA improves Covid situation faster than any other country.
Sweeden goes into hardest lockdown after acknowledging they killed tons more people than needed.
Swine flu - started in the US, invades China and the rest of the world.
Climate change reverses because no one drives to work or flys anymore.
Anti-vaxxers go quiet and line up for vaccination like everyone else.
People actually realise they like staying at home more than overseas holidays.
Dan Andrews is Australian of the year.
People realise that putting society's health ahead of their own selfish rights does work.
People respect Health and Emergency workers.
Land Rover fixes the Defender and makes it reliable.

Oh well. 9 out of 10 ain't bad. :D:D

LOL....AND fined $5000 per day for leaving roadwork speed restricted work zones that are not being worked on. The fine goes up to $20,000 per day after 1 month of no construction work.

Fine the companies and the traffic controllers concerned lose their ticket until they pass remedial training.

We don't want families over here. We like to be able to go for a run and grab a kebab on the way. I bet his vote grab works. The opposition is abysmal. He didn't need a border closure to secure that, all he had to do was turn up.

Ok, why aren't vaccinations now mandatory for anyone coming in to Australia from overseas, including flight and ship crews? That used to work back in the old days.
