Cleaning diesel engine bay

Usually I keep my engine bay and motor clean with degreaser followed by a high pressure hose down and finish with a good spray of WD40.

My latest acquisition is a 13 year old Hilux that looks like its never been cleaned in its life.

Can anyone please offer any clues for removing the diesel fume staining, oil marks and years of filth on the paintwork?

Hi can only recommend elbow grease and Extra cut buffing polish

agree with grumpy and even then the stain may never full go

Cheap cans of degreaser, let it soak! i mean numbers of cans! then elbow grease! if all else fails get some mud in there!

Thanks Poolman. It might come to that. Maybe I'll give the sandpaper a miss and do the whole thing fashionable matt black!

You can get a colour coordinated cut and polishe but the name eludes me at the moment. Will check at home and get back to you because although it does do the cutting part of the paint, it does it on a less harsh of a scale than normal and it keeps the colour matched.
