changing diffs in a rocky

hi

Well I have a 1984 rocky and the sub axle is stuffed on the front passengers side and I got told it would be best to just change the whole diff. Someone told me you can put in hilux diffs. Im not very good with that kind of stuff so thats why I asked here so I could find out if its true before I go out and buy hilux diff and get someone to put them in. Cheers
