We're definitely in! I've already invested too much time and money into this trip to not go now!
Cheers for the booking at punsand.
Now to make it there in one piece!...

Yeh we had a cyclone &some other bad weather last week now another cyclone this Friday.
Ther will be no closures when you guys come through.

Keep an eye on the weather through April/May you want it bad you want big wet seasons before you go up there. I have never seen it closed in June and the latest Cyclone was last year at the end of Apri.

Only been 6 Cyclones in May since 1970 so the odds are well in our favor for trips in June.

Shane... Shane.. Shane...For stuff like that you don't go and pay a man, you pay a kid, and they'll get it done in 20 minutes :)

As it stands I'm still good to go.
Thanks to all you guys who are making the bookings and all the preparations. This trip is something I have wanted to do since I was 8yrs old and with the amount of spare time I have I would never have had the time to organise and investigate all the things you guys have, I'll definitely shout you all a XXX sorry meant to say XXXX.

since the delinquent got an apprenticeship his prices have gone up

I also know that he will look at the rats nest of wiring that exists in there ( that he put in mostly qhwn hw was 14 ) and go
"its broken"
"get a man"

I also have a man i trust who will do the job right!

Interesting
Replacing the winch wire with rope isn't that easy
The fairlead doesn't fit!
so my "cheaper" rope needs a new clevis hoo and new polyurethane roller for the fairlead

May have been simpler buying a whole new winch but the fairlead would still have been wrong

Can I ask why it won't fit? I'm looking to do the same thing myself if I have enough time before the trip. Would an offset fairlead not help?

i have an ironman bar
the ironman fairlead needs rollers to keep the wire away from the bar openings

the fairleads supplied with rope are small and will let the rope rub on the bar

so new polyurethane roller swill keep it in the middle of the supplied hole

99 bucks a set

cheap if it rescues me

It has been suggested that we have some sort of commemorative token for this trip. Possibly a T-shirt/stubby holder/sticker (my fav) or something else? What does every one think about something like that? Or do you have another suggestion?

Shirts have my vote. Richard was wearing a 4x4earth shirt (from a previous gathering no doubt) on Todd's nye trip and I was a wee bit jealous!

I tend to lose stubby holders so in order of preference shirt - hat- stickers

Shirt or Stubbie Holder for me. I like sitting around the camp fire using a stubbie holder from another trip, good talking point.
