Wondering if anyone knows of any 4WD tracks or parks in or around the cairns regions?? After living here for so many years you think i would know. But only getting the new prado recently havent had the need to find out. Have been to Cooktown quite a few times with friends but need something else to try.

Hi Mate. there are a few around the area that i know of. One of the latest ones i have found is at earl hill in trinity beach/park area. another good spot is down at greenpatch and goes all the way through to ross and locke. i also like to poke around on either side of the barron river at the kamerunga bridge(rocky on the south side and sandy on the north although not challenging).

Thanks for that mattski10,

have been wanting to find something easy for now so i can show the wife some basic 4wd stuff. I'm certainly not an expert at it but have done some offroading in the past. My favourite used to be at Landcruiser Park when i had my old 80 series. And only recently getting a new prado (bit different to xr6 turbo ute) and looking into getting back off the beaten track. therefore need some help from you guys that have been there and done that around here.

Thanks again and might see you out there someday
Cheers

Look up TF2 here on the forum. I'm sure Darrin will be happy to show you around.

thanks for that marksorensen,
Am certainly looking for someone to get dirty with (yes there was a pun intended) and ould be good to get out and about again too. would be a shame to have driven the new car up from ballina and not use the thing.

hey mattski,
Sorry to disappoint but didn't get the top shelf one with all the extra gadgets on it. Kind of takes all the challenge out of actually driving the car. only got the GLX TD manual and only has the one reverse camera on it.

To get to the earl hill tracks go down reed rd at trinity park all the way to the roundabout and turn left into the bluewater estate. then take your first right and you will find a heap of empty house blocks. follow the roads around and at the dead ends you will find some tracks (there are quite a few to choose from) some parts are impossible after rain. its been a while since i have been to green patch and i have heard they have blocked off the long track.

I was going to suggest a local forum I'm a member of, but I'm pretty sure you've already joined? PM me for details if you haven't....

And if you haven't you'll be pissed that someone new has a similar Prado too lol!

Go the white toyotas!

Well I wish I didn't but yeah we have 2 white toyos..... they're growing on me :)

I used to say white cars were terrible but yeah, not anymore.

The Cairns guys are pretty active, I went on a trip up there a month or so ago and it was great.... we're a little more laid back down in Townsville :)
