I went to go camping in Bunyip State Forest in the first/second week in January, also hoping to do some more 4x4 as well, only to find that the tracks have been closed to vehicle access and converted to walking/bicycle tracks. I had maps fresh from the Parks Victoria website that had the tracks listed, rocked up with the family and 4x4, to find no access to tracks allowed. I drove all the way around the State forest, same result. Ended up going to Moondarra State Park, and had a blast.
So, if 4x4 action is what you want/need, dont go to Bunyip State Forest, unless nice dirt roads do it for you.......
