The SA/VIC Border Track a.k.a. Dog Fence
Over the last 2 months I have spoken to several 4WDers who have done the track over the last few months and they all said that it had deteriorated badly, so much so that they would only recommend experienced drivers do it. Apperantly it's not for the fainthearted or inexperienced anymore which is a real shame as it is a great trek for 4WD training.
As far as taking a camper apparently it would be near suicidal for both you and the camper as the track now has very deep ruts, deep washouts and treacherous side slope angles.
If you do still want to do the track without a camper you can only do it from north to South from Penola. You can do it in 1-3 days.
I also heard from a few rangers and around the traps that the track may be closed off forever soon as neither state government is interested in maintaining it.
