Booking is essential and is done online. Payment MUST be made prior to arrival once online booking has been confirmed.
We have to make sure that we all book online as soon as possible for the long weekend as the bookings get closed after they have reached the quota they want for the weekend. BOOKINGS HAVE NOW BEEN CLOSED BY BIGRIGGEN
Amenities
The campsite has toilets, hot showers and fireplaces. The showers require 20c pieces to operate and there is a small shop at the office which has a few basics such as bread milk ice soft drinks icecreams bait firewood and some limited essentials. The campsites are not powered.
Communications
Do not rely on your mobile phone as coverage is non existent at the campsite for 3G and GSM digital phones (most people have one of these) Telstra NextG works in one spot near the kiosk. There is a payphone at the campsite office and a public phone in Rathdowney (20 km round trip)
How to get there
From Brisbane (approx 130 kms) Take Mt Lindsay Highway to Beaudesert and then on to Rathdowney.
Drive through Rathdowney turn right (approximately 500 metres) into Boonah-Rathdowney Rd.
Drive 7 km and turn left into Upper Logan Rd.
Drive 600 metres and turn right into Bigriggen Rd. There is a cattle yard on the corner.
Follow this dirt road (watch for cattle!) for 2 Km to Bigriggen park.
Check in with reception before entering the park itself.
From Nerang ( Gold Coast) Approx 94 kms. Drive through Nerang then Canungra to Beaudesert and then on to Rathdowney. Then follow the directions above starting at Rathdowney.
From Ipswich. (approx 87 kms) Travel along Boonah-Rathdowney Road. (Caution – the section of this road I saw was narrow with rough shoulders)
Immediately after crossing the Todd Bridge (OBriens Crossing) Turn right into Upper Logan Rd ( signs for Mt Barney/Barney View and Bigriggen )
Drive 600 metres and turn right into Bigriggen Rd. There is a cattle yard on the corner.
Follow this dirt road (watch for cattle!) for 2 Km to Bigriggin Park.
Fuel
Fuel is available in Beaudesert during daylight hours at the IFS service station. It is around 80 km return trip from camp to Beaudesert. Fuel should be available in Rathdowney (20 km round trip from camp) on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Pets
No pets are allowed in the park (pet chooks are apparently ok as long as they are already frozen)
Hope you can all make it...should be another great weekend.
