Thanks jus1979. If you have not been up to the Flinders before you will be in for a treat! There will be a fair few people like yourself enjoying the scenery, but hopefully that won't be a problem. But I would book into one of the parks very quickly if you want a hot shower each morning! There are three that I know of - Wilpena Pound, Rawnsley ( caravan or tourist ) park, about 15km south of Wilpena Park, and the one that is about 5 or 10km west of Blinman on the road to Parachilna.

If you miss out on any of those three then you might need to look further afield, like Hawker. Or do the bush camping thing at one of the many camp sites scattered through the various gorges.

Hey Millsy. My Parents and my family are also heading to Burra Gorge for the long week end. Going to leave early Friday morning to get a good posie. If ya see the cruiser there call in and say gday. It will be the gold colour cruiser with green light forces covers. You'll know it when ya see it. 5 days of R & R... Bring it on ;)

Hi Lindsay. Unfortunately the 'Back of Burra' trip has fizzled! So I won't be out that way after all. I am heading off on Monday arvo for a trip up to Menindie instead. Will do the station roads north of Renmark. Still deciding whether I head up from Morgan, or from Renmark. If I go up from Renmark I can drive through the Danggali National Park/Biosphere. After Menindie I am heading down to Geelong for a day or two, and then back to Adelaide by Monday night.

So enjoy your long R&R. I admire people who can do that, but until I return home all I want to do is keep moving for some strange reason! Itchy feet as they say. Hope the weather is kind to us!

Really sorry that we couldn't come along to this trip for work reasons, hope you have fun catching up with your family in VICTORIA. We would have liked to have done this trip with you & would like to treck with you at another time.
But in 3 weeks time we will finally have some time off & we are going up to Quorn Caravan Park for 5 days, & tour & do some 4wd tracks in & around Southern Flinders.
If you want to tour up with us that would be fine?

Thanks Anthony. Yeah, its a bit sad we are not heading off for another bash around SA next weekend. Good memories from the other two we did though.

So its great you can get a break from your daily grind soon. Hope your new job at the hospital is going well, and Kathy's studies and work also. You both must be really looking forward to some quality time with little Kelli.

I bet she has grown a bit since I have seen her last! Is she still keeping Kath fit with her little bursts of speed. It was a thrill to watch the handicap start at the Burra mine that day, as the two raced down that dirt track. And again at Port Victoria. I don't think Kath will be giving away such a big start now!

The beautiful innocence of young children. Such fun in simple endeavours. Unfortunately my 'littlies' in Geelong have just about grown up now. One is about 12 and the other 15. The oldest has allready left home a couple of years ago. The older 'little one' is right into Facebook, and probably the youngest also. They both have their laptops now and mobile phones. So hopefully there won't be any more raging arguments now about who's turn it is to play on the computer!

These sorts of toys make kids 'grow up' so much faster these days. I will only be there for a couple of days, maybe three. But at least I can get a 'snap shot' of who they are and where they are in their fast journey through their teen years. And service their car to help them out a bit. I wonder if they will be up for a game of golf again. Or another trip into the Ottways in the fourby. We'll see.

Unfortunately the older I get the greater the culture difference, even though the relative age difference is getting less!

I refuse to buy one of those fancy navigator systems for the fourby. I had so much fun touring outback Oz with my dad in the fifties, and later in the seventies. We didn't need any of that technology to have fun, and I still don't. A good old fashioned papyrus map is just fine.

So you three have a really great trip while I am back on my little mouse wheel. Thanks for the offer to join you, but you need your family times together, before Kelli hits her teen years, and I will be looking forward to my next escape in the Xmas holidays.
