There is a place just up near Neerim South called Hawthorn Bridge, just east of the town. Its on Latrobe River, indicated by 20 on page 2 here. Our club went there a few weeks ago, not me tho.

The river crossing is about bumper height on a Patrol, so take care if you intend crossing. Take a friend with a 4wd too!!
I am not sure what GSs GPS co-ordinates were.
Also:
HAWTHORN CREEK - Noojee: Tributary of the Latrobe River
Take the Neerim North Road 3km East of Noojee on Baw Baw Road or Neerim North Road just north of Neerim Junction.
Contains eels, river blackfish, abundant small brown trout, and spiny freshwater crayfish.
:D:D:D

Hey Zook, Hawthorn Bridge isn't a bad spot to camp, even has drop loos. Does get very busy
with the bikes though, and you can drive a car there. There is a track off to the left a few kays before Hawthorn, looks rutted but not badly, two little camp sites down there that are
usually pretty quiet. A couple of others spots like slab attack and chinamans are ok too, but the whole area can be busy. Quite a few spots the oher side of the river too, just take the left
track after you cross, there was a big hole halfway across, but not sure now.

Me and a mate are heading out that way this w/e, probably through Noojee, past the toolshed
and maybe heading right up towards Wood's Point(Link Rd I think).
Welcome to tag along, probably bugger all 4x4ing, just need to get bush. Will be leaving Bunyip about half one Sat arvo, back Sunday arvo. Anyone else welcome too. Just send me a pm before 8 or so Friday nite, and I'll give you a phone #.

Thanks heaps for the info guys, lots of options:D. Love this website!! I reckon that maps gonna come in real handy Nick. I think we might head out to Hawthorn Bridge somewhere, but will probably just follow the map around till we find a good spot. Gotta work saturday morning:mad:, so won't have a lot of time I 'spose.

Thanks for the invite too Jok, but we're goin pretty casual this weekend, takin the kids out for some fishing and stuff while they're still on holidays.
