Antenna Fold-down mounting bracket

I have the GME mounted on the roof rack with a 6dB antenna. During the 4 years it's been up there it's never had any issues. The fold down option is great when you encounter low hanging obstacles. It's also great to be able to fold down the antenna when you're not using it.

I made these up out of 3mm 50 x 50 aluminium. In about 12 years I have hit car parks, trees etc and it is auto fold down :) I don't even bother folding it sometimes, though it's usually folded down.

Look at this post and the pics after. The vehicle is no higher with it folded down than without it. If you click on the images and zoom in, you can see how simple it is to make and how it works. You also get to see my excellent photography.

Hi guys

I am researching on fold-down brackets for RFI antennas (CDQ 7195 and 5000) and so far have come across the following:

RFI: https://www.telcoantennas.com.au/fo...ull-bar-antennas-black-chrome-stainless-steel
GME: https://www.gme.net.au/au/accessories/mb042b/

Does anyone have feedback on either of the products?
After last week’s trip it would appear that you aren’t from West of the range if you haven’t got at least one - preferably two aerials leaning back at 45 degrees on the GME mount. I’m confident it has nothing to do with any sort of RF improvement strategy.

I have one, not either of those brands but same price wise. Local small manufacturer makes them.
Opinion:- they are too expensive, but are really good bits of gear. [insert descriptive adjectives at leisure]
do the job well, modded mine to stop it from folding past the x axis point of a crease in the roof if you asked noddy nut to fold it down instead of doing it yourself.

I must go remove one antanae .... i do remember reading only one is allowable ... so, i guess 3 is more than one? but 2 is ok?

Really.. where does it say only one is allowed? :O
My bad ......

Thats what you get relying on memory, bugger ...... trying to find these pesky things again is a minefield of pdf downloads with stupid file names.

What it actually says:-
Only one long range antenna (large diameter base) may be fitted to the front of a vehicle and must be fitted to the left side (maximum diameter permitted 75mm).
That could be taken to mean the Codan style? OR any thing from one League to 20,000 Leagues???

Least I remembered the number one right. :D even if I would hate to be the one swan diving over any areal on a bullbar! because one of those hinges is going to bring on early hip replacement. :D
