Thanks to paying extra tax for 3/4 of last financial year I've now made a few purchases for myself - the DCS dual lithium setup, a Car Builders sound deadening pack, a set of BT Cruiser struts for the bonnet, a 2nd Black Duck 4Elements seat cover for the passenger side and a Victron Blue Smart IP22 charger (which will most likely end up in the van). Just playing the waiting game for it to all arrive now

Once all of the above has been sorted I'm going to save a few more pennies back up and then get the injectors done, an inlet manifold clean, replace the starter motor while they're in there and get a remap as well. I'll hopefully be able to sell the Torqit chip for a few hundred $$ to recoup a bit of money

Have you upgraded the clutch yet? You will need to after the remap

be careful with really cheap lithium battery's, the one posted above only has 50 amps usable after reading some reviews, from when i was looking at buying lithium

Installed my BT Cruiser struts on Friday, easy enough job to do and does a great job at making it super easy for opening the bonnet. The better half is much happier with it this way, even though it's only once in a blue moon that she actually needs to open the bonnet

I did take a video as well, but the file size is too large to upload unfortunately

It's taken 215k but my clutch finally started slipping couple of weekends ago.
So went all out. Got npc1300 clutch, tune and intake stripped and cleaned. Woah what a beast I've got now!
Pretty serious increase in torque. Feels way smoother. Over all pretty stoked. Wish I had done this years ago.

Nice work Gavo, the tune transforms the vehicle doesn’t it and those clutches have a nice feel

Not sure what they are like but this 100Ah looks like an amazing deal.
Anyone have one??

Stay well clear of any Outbax product. They just make up the performance figures. Take a look at their solar panels. If they worked as Outbax advertise, NASA would be buying then up like crazy. They are about double the theoretical best maximum efficiency.

Its like I was saying in one of these threads (cant remember which one) but there should be a governing body testing these manifacturers claims on outputs!!

Who is keeping an eye on these people except joe public who is getting ripped off & then having to go through the washer to get someone to listen?

Its total BS imo

Last week I got stuck into ripping out my whole interior, cleaning out the factory insulation and putting in a Car Builders sound deadening and insulation kit, my new DCS lithium under bonnet batteries and then tidying up some of the spaghetti under the bonnet and in cab then running new wiring along the factory looms to make everything nice and neat. Unfortunately didn't get it all finished before starting the new job yesterday so it'll be bits done after work for the next 12 days and then I'll have another 5 days to get it finished

I might even start a build thread with all these latest bits and pieces

Here's a couple of pics from thus far

The starting mess o_O

I couldn't completely take out the carpet due to a rail from the Black Widow drawers being non-removable thanks to the nuts being obscured by the long rang tank

Sound deadening in - the roof was a real pain to remove the factory insulation

The DCS dual lithiums - need to work out some new clamps as they're not as tall as the old batteries

Had the cruiser remapped down in Goolwa by Daniel at PDT (Performance Diesel Tuning) and WOW! Massive difference in driving on the highway, different beast altogether now. Have only done 1/4 of a tank of fuel so far, but very happy with the results

Thinking very seriously about going down this route when I get my tax return
I would like to have the 200ah system, but the batteries are a touch too big for the battery trays I think. Need to physically measure them to be 100% sure though

I'd make sure before buying that DCS warranty means they replace the battery free if even after 2.9years the capacity is below 80%.

In general lithium under the bonnet is not a good idea, but then some get just a few years out of AGMs, but DCS lithium is
simply not cost effective if your replacing them every 3ish years imo. I'm so glad Im out of the battery under the bonnet game.
Just too many issues & to me it's like fighting a loosing battle.

That engine bay looks cramped as hell & I bet the temps will sore!
Once you get over 55-60C at the cells the insides deteriorate fast! I bet within 3years they will be down to 50-60% orig capacity & DCS
are hoping you simply can't tell.
Also lithium can be working fine, then suddenly out of the blue just no longer function, read up the SEI layer stuff, no doubt made worse
by the high heat.
I'm sorry but victron didn't make their battery protect for high engine bay heat.
Lithium cant really be charged in below freezing conds too & its capacity & CCA performance shrinks temporarily in cold.
of course aux batteries can have internal heating, but its simply not practical for a cranker.
alot of hype but imo you can't beat a high output alternator matched with a high CCA cheapy LA.

I would not be putting lithium under the bonnet unless I was fully prepared to spend alot of coin in the long run.

I'll make note to look into that warranty stuff cheers

Well there's plenty of now old technology that when it 1st came out people said it won't last, stick with the known things, etc etc so I'm having a test of some newer tech. Maybe it will last, maybe it won't... Maybe it'll be obsolete before the warranty period is up? Who knows, but what I do know is it is far and away outperforming the old LA cranking and AGM auxiliary batteries for now.

Yes you're right, not at all cost effective if they have to be replaced after 3 years, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it

Yes it is cramped and it annoys me quite a bit, but so far the DCS app hasn't shown temperatures reaching even 55°C yet and that's with some mid to high 40° days with horrible northerlies blowing. Mind you I haven't done any long touring trips in those temps, just some 4H 4wd and the daily work commute in those temps. If the engine bay temps get near 80°C where they're warranted for then I'll make changes as necessary. The Victron SBP is in the cabin at the side of my drawers, not in the engine bay

The below freezing conditions aren't a major factor except for a few winter nights/mornings where I live. High summer temps are though, but been a very mild summer so far really

I have a fully sealed high output alternator to install in my car at some stage as well

Again I'll cross that bridge when I come to it - I may lose out or I might come out ahead, I'll have to wait and see
