Absolutely ridiculous advertising sizes... again.

I thought the ads were controlled by Google??
We can limit the type of ads and even block ads from individual companies. I have blocked things like gambling and the more scamming type of ads, so let me know if you see something inappropriate.

Think you are on the money there. Many forums, not just 4wd stuff, have fallen by the wayside due to 'Faceache'. I joined this site many years ago with the sole purpose of going on 4wd trips and meet new people, which happened on a regular basis in the early years. It has all changed now, no trips other than annual gatherings, as I suspect many of the early forum members are now doing their 'own stuff together' as a result of friendships formed here. Other issues, such as liability etc, may have also played a part in the demise of trips here....

I still applaud James in keeping the forum going and appreciate that revenue is required, re adverts, for him to keep the site operational. For me, whilst I visit the site every few days or so, I am not prepared to pay the $$$ to go add free as the site no longer has the appeal it once had, partly due to the lack of trips plus any topics of interest seem to go totally off track with so much unrelated crap posted.
So @allanmac this is something I am keen to solve. I know 4x4earthers organise trips on FB, or through PMs and a wide range of other means. Some of the other sites have struggled to organise trips, partially because of the liability issue. I am keen to get more people heading out, especially the newbies, because they are critical to keeping access to tracks.

The site is becoming almost unusable again, I also frequent Explore Oz and they simply don't have the same issue

I'm using google on an iMac with Bitdefender and an IBM homebuilt PC with Windows 10 and Avira antivirus. No special settings on either machine. I have never had any ad pop up on this site.

Actually my membership ran out and I've made a couple visit here's since but the advertising is a joke so I've been over on Facebook like everyone else who used to use forums.

I still use this forum as I don't like fakebook trying to control my life. My missus and some of my family do not see many of my posts because fakebook algorithms says they could not get enough fake news for them to watch me.

I might be one step ahead of you because my Facebook account has zero friends literally. I use it only for logging in and I'm not a fan at all like you. But the user experience with the ads here is getting beyond fun.

Facebook is great for what it was first intended for. That is keeping in touch with "friends", contacts, relatives, family etc. It is also useful for businesses to get information out to customers such as promotions, events or even closures and holidays. Sadly those self entitled "gen whatever" masquerading as socialists whilst feeding off the grease of silicon valley weren't able to support the lifestyle they felt entitled to so they discovered new ways to lighten the hip pockets of dumb ass lazy individuals that believe that the news will come to them and that lizards run the world. So the geriatric teenager with the negotiating skills of a sarcophilis harrasii has now decided that he is the "New World Order".
Even China has backed down with it's border dispute with India. It will be interesting to see if this new messiah has the brains to do likewise.
