A Newbie but an Oldie

G'day all
Just easing myself (and new partner) back into the joys of 4wd'ing after too long an absence for a few reasons. Anyway.. my 4wd experience goes back a few years, to the mid '80s starting with a Series 2 Landrover. You'd think that would have ruined me for life but it made me think that there had to be more to this game than replacing broken axles, rebuilding diffs..etc. etc. etc.
So.. quite a few years later I played with a Mitsubishi L300 4x4 for a while, taking it to places it was never meant to go. Then it was back into family cars again for a few more years before I traded the Falcon on a Turbo Diesel Pajero which kept the flame alight for a bit longer. The Pajero went the way of a few other possessions during a major upheaval in my life.
Since then I was lucky enough to be part of the Porsche Cayenne release in Australia (a few days in and around Wilpena Pound) as well as a couple of memorable trips from Canberra to the coast via the dirt roads over the mountains.
After a brief stint in the USA I then spent a couple of years in country Victoria with Toyota but took the opportunity to drive pretty much every 4x4 on the market in various conditions. Which brings me to the present...living in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne and just dipping the toes back in the water....with a little red Ford Escape no less.
So.. if you've read this far, you need to get a life :)
I look forward to exchanging a story or two.

Hi christophera, interesting story. Yes as I read the whole thing, I need some more excitement in my life, I will have to buy another 4by as a play toy. An old Zook may just fit the bill.
