Hi all,

Should I be able to turn the crank by hand, in neutral (M/T), H2wd and no handbrake?
Ute died will driving, maybe horrible metal cruching (starter) when try to start while still rolling.
Charging battery now, checking all my connections as think I have a bad earth too!
Missing my earth strap?? Motor to battery is from alternator, but only gearbox single wire (yellow/blue) to sensor...should there be think cable from gearbox to chassis or direct to battery?

Greatly appreciated

Should be a heavy black cable somewhere from the body to egine/ gearbox. Use jumper cables as an earth strap, if it improves starting, you know what to do.

Are you sure the engine timing belt has not broken? When that happens while driving, the engine camsharft stops instantly leaving some of the valves protruding down into the cylinders. The engine will still turn but some of the pistons will hit the now stationary valves that have stopped in their open position very hard resulting in major damage to both.

If this has not happened, you sould be able to turn the engine by hand when the gear box is in neutral unless something drastic has happened to the starter motor.
