Anyone want to buy this, 20 years old and works perfect. Comes with all original accessories. Changing devices. There are used ones on ebay/marketplace asking around $1000. I'm not asking for that much, make an offer.

I got a 9575 Extreme on ebay for $600. There is no way a 9505A is worth $1000

Also it is just worth checking that 9505 is compatible with the new satellites currently being launched and being activiated. Iridium dropped firmware upgrade support for the 9505 about 12 years ago when they made it End of Life, that's why I upgraded.

Defiantly worthy of a recheck - was working fine a year ago when I last checked it. But its been a while since I've tried to use it

Also a bit OT, Qualcomm, who makes the chip that powers nearly every high spec android, released the new snapdragon that supports Iridium SMS on the new Iridium system. That will be a game changer and start appearing in phones from about December this year. It's far superior to the Apple equivalent. Anyone interested in remote travel considering buying a new Android should hold off till they start appearing.

What’s the point just wait till Optus offer the same coverage on your iPhone

And Musk, and Amazon and Telstra. All will be offering calls on phones via sats, but at what cost?
at the cost of using their service,
Unless there is some consistency I missed ?

Huh?? What conspiracy? All those companies have publicly stated they are working towards providing sat based telephony. Obviously they will charge for providing their service. I asked at what price?
What have I missed??

I wouldn't be selling my Iridium just yet. I think they are all text only for the next 2 years or so.

But I wouldn't pay $1000 for an old 9505A that's probably worth about $350 either.

I am thinking I will run with Starlink unless something better comes to light in the next 12 months

I should probably start a new topic, but @Albynsw do you have a RV version Starlink?

No mate but I am building a new long range tourer and are looking at my options to upgrade from the satphone and thinking Starlink atthis point.
From what I have read the standard one is fine and not worth the extra coin for the RV Version

Sorry, I meant the non-residential option. The one where you can pause your monthly bills and only activate when you need it.
I have one and only activate when I have a couple of camping trips coming up.
I am looking into flatmount on the LC76 roof.
