Here is a link to the latest episode. Shane has some great experience in the industry and it seems like the Association is moving in the right direction. What do you think?

4wd Australia is a waste of space and certainly some State 4wd peak bodies are considering leaving them.

Have you had a listen to the podcast? There is some room for improvement with some of the organisations that are meant to be moving 4WD forward, but I think Shane has some great ideas. I have more concerns about 4WD Vic, TBH. They seem pretty stuck in their way, aren't growing memberships and are fighting for rights for just their members. I think they have 6,000 members across the state, no politician is going to care about 6,000 people across a state. We need to be thinking about all 4WDers and even better, all bush users.

I can only go from feedback from my club representative to my State 4WD association which in turn as a member of 4WD Australia (is actually Australian National Four Wheel Drive Council “ANFWDC”).

Hasn't the NSW/ACT association split from the Australian group now? My club has pulled out of the State organization now due to the split. It seems like a big shit fight is on.

Sadly Shane doesn't speak like someone who represents the values of me and the people I 4wd with. That's a shame. So many absolutes and straw men being used as examples, even by you james. I think you can do better to be honest. Signed: latte sipping software engineer who is happiest living out of a swag

Hey mate, I am not sure I know what you mean. Not a software engineer, don't like lattes. Don't mind a swag. I thought I was very fair in inviting the CEO of 4WD Vic on the podcast to get the opposing view. Did you listen to that podcast?

Yeah I listened to the whole thing. I just think the conversation was framed in the context of green groups that enjoy the bush being at odds with people who enjoy it for other things. The greens I know support shared use of the bush responsibly.

We don't want to look like a bunch of anti environmentalists...theres no winning that fight. We'll be framed a bunch of rednecks. Best thing we can do is work together with environmental groups that support access and think about community contribution and education instead of polarising the debate.. Anyway, back to the mowing, this rain had given me a lot of work :p

I should state that i haven't had the chance to hear the pod cast.... But will find the time this weekend and maybe what i'm about to say may change... I am a member of a 4WD club in sydney and know many others that are too from other clubs.. Some in the Association, some in the new 4WD group that has spilt from it ....and then we have those that love the bush and 4wding.... , but hate the politics that go on with clubs...
Oddly they all want the same thing, just not in the same way.... We all need to work together if we want to use the tracks and go camping...
Sadly we need people, like those that chair 4WD groups and 4WD Associations to act on our behalf to state and federal governments.. . .
There are those out there that want all parks closed , more-so now seeing what has happened with the loss of all the animals and vegetation .. (fire's) If we sit on our backsides and not support those who are willing to try and help us to get back to what we all love ...the bush , 4wding, and of course camping under the stars.. Then we are going to lose the lot ...

We need to get a whole lot of people to lobby the government to reopen the parks for camping so we can get out of the house and regain some sanity, I have been cooped up at home for nearly 4 weeks no work and the only outing to the supermarket and local working tracks.
I WANT CAMPING, IT WONT SPREAD THE FRIGGIN VIRUS WHILE ME AND THE COOK ARE CAMPED IN SOME REMOTE PART OF THE BUSH.
Australia is pretty big last time I checked so easy to keep more than 1.5m when camping even if every person who does it went out
Ah thats better rant over

They’ll keep closing areas and tracks until there’s $$$$. Most the time places are closed due to rubbish, vandalism of tracks etc .
I don’t understand why they don’t issue a Yearly/Quarterly Parks Pass , put the money back into the upkeep, they use this model around the world and it works, employ more Rangers (they patrol weekends also, not just during the week because the government won’t pay for weekend work when most of the crap happens) or someone who can issue fines for doing the wrong thing and also re-educate if need be.

Sadly Matt, those in government think that only those at the top of the ladder are wroth there time.. So no matter how many of us phone, email, or even write to them ... They will just file us with the out going rubbish.... Sorry its just the way they think... But yes we do need to find ways to push the reopening of parks..... once this crap of C-19 is over we all need to be ready ...
