2ND ever NSW Annual Gathering - Turon River Diggings

I was up on the Turon 10 days ago for 4 days camping at Upper Turon and it was absolutely glorious with the sun out during the day and starting to set behind the ridges around 16:00 for 2C to 4C nights.

I did say in my initial post I'd be there 'rain, hail or shine' but it seems I'm getting soft  particularly post injury so I'm sorry to inform I am going to give it a miss considering rain is forecast.

Pre injury in July 2015 I recall camping on the Turon upstream from Sofala with sunny 14C days (9C on the Bridle Track at Hill End) and -4C nights toasty as in the swag and waking up to all the camp water frozen solid, even the fringes of the river touching the bank where crystallized :) Ahh the good ole days!

Damn family life. There is no way I can make this trip.

Anyone wanna swap families for the weekend?

Yeah forecasting a bit of rain, I have been there on a couple of wet occasions when access to camp was not do-able with people camped at the bottom of the hill ,not sure how much rain it takes to make the river impassable.

Is the river the one that the FJ cruiser got washed away ?

The forecast is for a few mm of rain. That will barely even touch the river. Access won't be an issue.

The river does have a loose stone base so I would advise anyone unsure to drop some pressure out of their tyres before crossing. Same goes for the clay descent to camp.

Yeh forecast is not too bad ATM really. As Toddyh said.... drop your pressure down as the bottom is loose river rocks. I will have radio on ch26... if you get stuck I am sure I can footage of the Prado recovering you:D:D:D
