Oh just to clarify, it was actually the knowledge and expertise of @1 red gu that lead the trip around Airly Village! Thanks for that mate.. Was some serious history going on out there!
Your right @Gavo , thanks to @1 red gu for the Airly Village trip. I loved it - it's not only the difficult tracks but in this case the history.
I have been up part of that track but it wasn't till this one I saw the Cave huts - They were great.

One of the tricks I was told about (But haven't tried) is to use your Camp Oven upside down with the pizza on the lid & the oven bowl as the top.
Yeah, I've tried that too, but camp oven bowls aren't easy to pick up when they're upside down, and I found it too easy to spill ash onto your food.

I actually made a doo-dad from part of a 9kg gas bottle to overcome that problem that worked really well, but it's a pain to pack. I won't try to explain it with words, because I don't know how to describe it effectively, so I'll post some pictures somewhere in the camp cooking section when I get home.
Might have to start a thread just for camp pizzas...

Edit: Link to new "Camp Pizza" thread..

Top weekend guys as always, it was great to show off some of the history in the area that I have found over the years of exploring up there. we even managed to find a rock shack that I hadn't see before, it's such a buzz finding this stuff in such good condition. I didn't take many pics so it's cool to see all your shots coming up
Keep them coming.
See you all on the next one cheers

Thanks to the NSW crew for putting on a fantastic week end , i really enjoyed the laid back way the week end was run .
You guys should be proud of the way week end went off , great drives , fun vibe , friendly people and the best fires of any trip I've been on .
It was certainly worth the drive up , i had a ball and will be back next year (hopefully with a few more victorians in tow )

In fact we should organise a vic to nsw trip up thru the HC like the NSW crew do each year .

I guess it is about time I put a big Thanks to the organisers

We ambled up from lil ole Adelaide on the Wednesday stopping at Hay and discovered a little gem of a camp spot in the State Forest, and after a few bevvies and a couple of wines enjoyed by a small campfire we retired Up early and ready to spend another full day behind the wheel arriving in the dark Thursday night we settled down to meet a few of the early arrivals.

Tangles tripped over on the first night's fire and turned his square chair into a trapezoidal arrangement as I found out in the morning, allegedly I had poured off-Port into him, he suffered a few bruised ribs and apparently decent size bruises on his leg so he was a little ginger for the rest of the trip, laughter and bumpy tracks making it a tad uncomfortable for him. Unfortunately though I think @Mr Rum took out the Golden Logie for best and most sensational effort for going to ground ;)

It was so fantastic to meet and again refresh the names to faces of those that I have already met at the Vic meets, loved the relaxed atmosphere and the warm and friendly reception from all the NSW and indeed the lone Southern Mexican.

It will be good to catch up with many of you at the Victorian meet in November

Let the Rusty Nails & the Mexican Hookers run freely :D

cheers
