Should do something like the Scout jamborees where they select a different state each time.
A place that wouldn't be to bad is Coffs Harbour region, good tracks behind it and beach camping and driving also.

Myself honestly Tassy being I will be a new dad there are plenty of close by amenties for the missus and kid. Also there are plenty of hard 4wd tracks down there as well. I do know of one track a local told me about it's about 26k's long but will take approx depending on the conditions 20hrs - 24krs to complete.
Also there's Hellyers wisky distillery there as well mmmm

And just to complicate matters we were wondering what time frame would be best, some areas, for example: Barrington Tops or Tassie tend to get a bit cold in winter where as the Top End tends to get a bit hot and wet over the southern summer period so maybe we should also be looking at where and WHEN....

Coffs is just up the road from where we were this year! Different state next year, only fair to all. I'm happy for anywhere as well. I did vote for Tassie though!!

I reckon around the time of the spring school holiday break would be a good time to do it. Especially for those of us with pint size dirt magnets....

Good idea. Winter down south is pretty cold, especially for our littlins that live up north.

Speak for yourself....theres nothing old or fartish about me...and if l recall, it was actually the southerners that did all the complaining of the cold...not us Qlder's.

There are many great places in Australia to enjoy, the idea is to attempt to do group trips that everyone is welcome. I plan to go to the Kimberley's one day but it would be great to do it friends. It may come down to state or regions having meetings.
