1st NSW Meet and Greet-17th OCT
Well we have our own trips section now and I’m thinking it’s time to organise our first “meat” and greet day <-- no it’s not a typo I’m thinking BBQ would be a good thing and maybe a little elbow bending practice if people desire (responsibly) to toast our new section.
Purpose being to put faces to nicknames, get to know each other in a social setting and welcome newbies who want to get involved in the forum and outings etc
On the tracks database the majority of members in NSW are grouped around Sydney so the Location will be:
Cattai National Park.Date has been set to 17th October 2009
It has good facilities and camping available if people from regional areas wish to attend plus large sheltered area's if the weather is not so great.
I will try and sort out some tracks in the area so we can do a bit of wheeling, if still able to move about after the BBQ.
The BBQ will start between 12:30 and 1:00 pm final place within the park for the meet will be updated shortly, though it wont be hard to find just look for the crowd of 4by's and proud looking owners
Raquel and I (Gordon) will arrive around 10 am to start setting up.
Post up if you can make it and I will add you to the list below "Everyone is Welcome".
Should be a great day so come along, bring some food for the BBQ & meet some new people
Cattai national Park is NW of sydney about 25min from Windsor, see a few posts down for the link to to a map.
Location: Use the map a few posts below to find the entrance (dirt road) sign posted Cattai National Park, follow this for approx 500m until you reach the gates - turn left.
Follow this through for a few hundred meters untill you see a parking area and a few buildings STOP HERE if day tripping and pay $7.00 at the ticket machines on the LHS, if camping and already paid then go straight through and just keep following the road as it winds you down to the picnic area.
Drive through the picnic area with the river on your LHS and you will see a sign for the camping area- proceed straight on into the camping area you should see the group on either right or left hand side of the road just past the entrance (will Make up a MEAT & GREET sign so you can identify us)
Camping: I have the large group area set aside for us, though you will need to ring in advance and pay for your spot.
Call Col or Michelle at Cattai National Park on 02 9572 3100 between 8:30am and 12:30pm Monday to Friday to make your booking and payment.(choose option to speak to someone when calling... think it's option 1?) let them know at time of booking that you are with the 4x4 Earth meat up.
Adults $10.00 per night each
Rugrats $5.00 per night each
Vehicle:$7.00 unless you have an all parks pass in which case it's free. (those staying will only have the 1 x $7.00 vehicle fee) so 2 adults and 1 vehicle = $27.00, which is not too bad when you remember they have good clean amenities and "HOT" showers + level camp sites and a pretty nice area in general.
In their words "camper trailers" are not permitted and they prefer you sleep on the ground with the bugs.. though.. Camper trailers will be condoned during our visit
