Hiya Everyone,

Just seeing who would be keen to come along on a short weekend away up though the west side of the Blue Mountains?
Plan would be,
Friday night at O’Connell pub, camping in back paddock with dinner and drinks in the pub.
Saturday go through Bathurst, Root Hog Track, Bridle Track, Hill End bakery or Hill End pub for lunch.
Head back down Hill End Rd through Old Sofala and into Turon for Saturday night.
Then slow trip back home through Sunny Corner and Lithgow on the Sunday.

Remembering it will be very cold and chance of snow somewhere along the trails. There is a few river crossings but these should be fairly easy but will always depend on how much rain they get beforehand as to the height of the river.

The List:
  • Aus_Jeep & Kate
  • MUXaround
  • Scuzzy
  • RodeoDave
The Maybes
  • ToddyH
  • mighty

Will need to suss that one out closer to the date.
Just a heads up, it will take at least 2 hours drive time to get from O'Connell to Hill End via Root Hog for lunch time. Similar drive time from Hill End to Turon NP. There's a few very worthy stops along the Bridle Track that will add to that time. Plus there's plenty to see in Hill End itself. They do mine tours, there's 2 really good lookouts, there's golden gully up the road and the cornish roasting pits further up the road. Easy spend a half day or more there.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up Toddy. As per all trips like this i'm always open to change, if we run short of time due to wanting to look around areas we can always find somewhere different to camp if need be. There's always heaps of different camp spots up around there. Always got the option of camping somewhere around Hill end for the Saturday night then Sunday would just be the drive from Hill End back out to Lithgow via Turon & Sunny Corner or even Capertee if a bit short on time on the sunday.

I did an overnight reccy for an upcoming Club trip through Euchareena, Hill End, Sofala, Turon NP, finishing at Sunny Corner only last week. Tracks are in pretty good condition with a few rutted sections between Woolshed Flat and Sunny Corner. Nothing difficult heading the direction that you will be travelling.
Unfortunately our Club Trip will be the weekend before.
Cheers

So the plan on it so far would be to meet up at O'Connell pub on the Friday night and camp in the paddock out the back. The don't charge for camping but they do ask that you at least have a feed or a few drinks in the pub which i think is a pretty fair deal.

Saturday would be up through root hog, cross the river onto bridle track then up to Hill End for lunch. When we get there we can have a chat and see what people want to do. We can either hang around in hill end to check out the area and camp here for the night and check out more of hill end on the sunday morning, or we can move on down to Turon for the night. Its a pretty relaxed trip and always flexible.

Not sure how many are going yet. Its an open invite to all and anyone that wants to come along. The more the merrier that wants to come along. Hopefully a few put their names down as definite so it turns into an even better trip.
