Love it!!!! Patrol from a wrecker. Thats the local niss dealer isn't it??

Looks good though Gordon. Could have bought a Johnno's Camper Trailer though!;):D

Also love the fact you bought a TOYOTA one!:D:D GOLD...

:eek:Nice !! maybe you forgot I am my own Nissan dealer:mad::D
Cheers bud:D
Did think of buying a johnno's among others but there is a lot of satisfaction when looking at a finished project and thinking "I made that" ;) (well a fair bit of it anyway)

Mate the Hilux tub was a freebie:p, swapped it in from my local ARB for a GLX Triton d/cab tub that they now use to display gear etc, The Triton tub was free off a customer who did not require it as I fitted an alloy tray to his new 4by. Now an 09 king cab Navara tub.. would pay money for that:D

Recently I started 2 off road trailer projects, First one is a H/D off road trailer for rough tracks trips with the tent using an extra cab SR5 Hilux tub.
Second is a H/D off road camper trailer using a single cab style XL body (ex Telstra) with a large roof top tent attached, complete with annex style room and internal ladder.
Both the trailers are using the same style 75x50mm ladder frame chassis, H/D Outback 7 leaf eye to eye rebound springs. The off road trailer has had the tub welded in place for additional strength and rigidity while the camper will be bolted on using the existing chassis mounts on a re-enforced ladder frame and tabs.
The pic’s below show the off road trailer in 95% finished condition, just have to complete the wiring on the12V battery power system that is charged via an Anderson plug on the back of the Patrol to run fridge and lights, buy a tonneau cover and she’s done:D.
The camper will be finished and registered on about the 4th of September with just the a little extra internal wiring and fitment of the LPG gas system to be completed, will post pic’s of it about then as just now it’s a pile of pieces waiting for build up.
The camper will ride about 40- 50mm lower than the off roader for stability with the extra weight, have eletric brakes, pressured water and between a 5-10 min setup, then your kicking back taking in the scenery with a drink and everything ready to go;):D plus additional exterior lights for night time setup.

I would be VERY interested to see the camper trailer pics, I am thinking of doing the same thing. Making my own, as I have researched a few, and cant seem to find the right one, without having to sell the kids to pay for it!!! :D:D

Camper update and pic's

The camper project was slowed down a fair bit due to the 2nd rolling chassis not being built to coincide with the booked workshop time (pissed off!!) to complete the project so unfortunately the off road trailer had to be sacrificed. This meant grinding the tub off the chassis which in an effort to not damage the chassis took several hours of build time and rendered the tub useless for re use.
Once the tub was removed we set to work measuring and making the XL body mount points, strengthening and lengthening the existing frame, remaking a new wiring loom and connecting the lights.
Photos show a few stages of the chassis mods and body being fitted, by 6pm that night we had completed the mounting and had working lights though leaving a fair bit of work to be done at home on the weekends including making the tent mounting frame gas / fuel holders, 12v battery setup /internal and external lighting, power sockets etc. gas lines and water/sink setup and more.

Bits left to do are:
1/ run gas line to rear of bottom sliding draw and mount new stove in draw with stop tap and flexible connection so stove slides in and out whilst connected.
2/ mount sink with lid into kitchen floor and run waste outlet.
3/ mount water tank under floor, filler point in old fuel inlet point, 12v pressure switched pump and run line to tap over sink. (fused switch on board already installed)
4/ install steel battery box and cables to fuse board (already run but not connected) mount CTEC charger and run 240v cables to caravan 240v inlet style fitting.
5/ fabricate removable chequer plate step for rear of camper.
6/ install wind down stabiliser legs and recovery points.
7/ mount Treg trailer hitch.
8/ fabricate basic removable stone guards (1 per side)
9/ complete frame colour painting and spray body exterior with gunmetal grey anti chip gloss paint.
10/ START ENJOYING IT :D

Cheers Gunna/bmurray!
Yeah I can not wait to get it finished as it will make small and large trips sooo easy:D
pack the fridge and a bag of clothes, hook it up and leave the stinky stressfull god forsaken city in the rear view mirror at 1/2 hrs notice "woohoo";)
It's going on a couple of smaller camps before it's completely finished which should help to find and iron out any bugs before it's first big trip... coast rds over a few days to get to O'Tooles then possibly into SA for a bit of touring (2 weeks in total):D
