    79 Series- DPF Delete

Not my raw nerve, I drive an old petrol cruiser so don't have a horse in the DPF race. Just seemed like an odd comment to me, if removing the DPF was a legitimate 'environmental disaster' then every other 2007-2015 70 series would be off the road to ensure the continued survival of the human race.

    79 Series- DPF Delete

I guess everyone driving a pre-DPF 70 is an absolute environmental vandal then. How many of your discos have a DPF?

Cyber Attacks We're all at risk.

Because ransoms were never asked for (and successfully received) before cryptocurrencies were invented? There's another form of currency that's used for all illegal dealings far more than any crypto - check your wallet, I'm sure you have some. And for the record I have zero stake in any...

    George4x4 recovery?

Potential guerilla marketing aside, I've bought some soft shackles and a snatch ring off their ebay store and have been happy with the quality and very happy with the price.

    Pooping in the Simpson

Better off putting a stick upright in the ground than leaving a bit of toilet paper around - I thought everyone did this..?

Any advice on purchase of a Troopcarrier.

Covid tax hit the troopies even harder than other 4x4s given the "live-in-ability" of them - plenty of the trustfund and tech job 'van lifers' have helped inflate the prices. Provided there's no rust in that low km 1992 model, it will outlive a lot of people on this forum but no way in hell it's...

    Wonnangatta Couple from Drouin ??

Yep I've found the golf club analogy works pretty well when the uninitiated ask me why my shed looks like a BCF

Are there any trees in WA?

A good bowsaw might be an option if you're only intending on cutting small logs (say up to the diameter of your calf) here and there - I've carried one for years and only just upgraded to a small electric chainsaw. The wood will definitely warm you twice - once when cut and once when burned...

    Mansfield police again.

I don't see any mention of an engineer's cert? More likely that the seventh vehicle was just modified within legal limits (or, gasp, not modified at all)

    57L fridge/ freezer oztrail

I've had the Oztrail 45L for just over 12 months now, have been very happy with it. As @smitty_r51 said, it definitely rattles a bit but hasn't skipped a beat

Google maps v CamperX v Wikicamps

I had the same problem with the Australian Topo Maps app, ended up downloading an app called Wakey which allows you to choose apps that stay 'awake' and stops your phone going to sleep when in use. I think it cost me $2 - cheap fix for the frustration of having to tap the screen every 30 seconds.

How to wire kings light without hi-beam while stoped

In most (all?) states, light bars must be connected to the high beams and also have a separate on/off switch accessible by the driver, whereas work lights (i.e. lights not pointing forward) must not be able to be turned on or off by the driver. It sounds like you're going to run them off the...

How to wire kings light without hi-beam while stoped

Can't imagine running a light bar as a camp light - isn't light pollution one of the things we try to escape when we're out in the bush? You'd look cool wearing sunnies all night long though

What's your approach to camping? Minimalist or not?

A mate and I were just talking about how we used to pack 3 blokes into a 10 foot tinny with enough gear for half a week and still get it up on the plane, now two of us manage to fill the whole back of a cruiser for just two nights in the bush. I've found there's the same baseline amount of gear...

    Suzuki Jimny engine number location

I don't want to lead you down the garden path as I'm only familiar with QLD laws, but up here engine conversions require assesment by an engineer and Modification Plate (a physical plate similar to your compliance plate, generally on or around the firewall). I would assume it's the same for all...

    Suzuki Jimny engine number location

Very surprised the seller didn't let you know - was it a private sale or through a dealer? If you weren't aware then I assume it hasn't been mod plated so you'll need that before rego/road worthy and also need to let your insurer know.

    Suzuki Jimny engine number location

Found this: I think the Suzuki Swift 1.6L is a moderately common engine conversion for them but I'm sure the previous owner would have let you know (and would've been priced accordingly)
