Vic High Country - Must see tracks

I've got Hema digital maps for the area. I'd like to do Mt Pinnibar, head south towards limestone Creek then back to TG via Davies Plain. I'm happy to add or rearrange if people have spots they swear by, and while I've got some camp sites that look good people often have little known gems that...

Vic High Country - Must see tracks

G'day Gang, I have 4 or 5 days that I can spend camping over easter, and I'd like to head to the high country as I'm a few hours from Tom Groggin. Looking for recommendations of good camp spots, good technical and scenic tracks and what you think I can do over 3 or 4 days. I was thinking...

    Chasing a "click"

Bearings and kingpins feel fine. I've checked the hubs, short of pulling them apart they are behaving like they should. My tie rod does need a new grease seal around the nipple, but I really don't think that's the issue. If I get a chance I'll repack the bearings before I leave just to be on...

    Chasing a "click"

I was going to do bearings with my 100K service after a trip to Adelaide, but I might just do them before I go. Hubs were my next target, but it clicks with them locked and unlocked, and they seem to be engaging/disengaging properly. I thought about the kingpins, but the fact that it varies with...

    Chasing a "click"

G'day brains trust. My 70 series has developed a 'click', only audible at low speed (it may be present at high speed, but it stays quiet), and the frequency varies with wheel speed. It seems to be eminating from the front RH hub, and it gets louder the more I turn left. I immideatley though...

    Chassis Paints

G'day brains trust, The 70s done about 6 months worth of bush bashing now, and the "dealer" brand chassis paint is looking a bit worse for wear on some bits. What's everyone's recommendations for touching up chassis paint? Supercheap brand 'chassis black' rattlecanned every few months, or...

Zig Zag - Newnes Ruins - Galah Mountain, Doable Solo?

G'day all, I've got a mate who's having a hard time, so next weekend I'm going to take him up to Zig Zag to get him out of the city and have a bit of a chat. I usually do all the fun parts of Newnes state forest (spanish Steps etc) as a group, but this will be a solo vehicle trip. I haven't...

    Anyone done Regularity Raids?

This sounds like an awesome idea, and if it's not a thing here, then it should be!

    quick release awning

Jacnden, Red was just commenting on the irony. They're made by Ironman, an Australian owned and run company. It's ironic that you'd hear about it from Russia and not many people here have heard of it

Cruiser running warm and I'm running scared

You'll learn fast don't be afraid to get in and get dirty, the cruisers are good mistresses to work with. A workshop manual will be a big help too. FWIW mine sits at 79-80 around town and comes up to 85 if I'm flogging it in the dirt. Your EGTs are fine, so I wouldn't panic, you're safe to...

Cruiser running warm and I'm running scared

90c is maybe a smidge warm, but it's not going to damage anything - what does your cruiser usually run at? Is the intercooler a front mount, or a top mount? As vehicles age they can start to run a touch warmer, the cooling circuit/radiator clogs up a bit, water pumps loose efficiency etc...

'Sickening cruelty': Video shows man laughing as he mows down emus in 4WD

The Daily Mail has supposedly identified him as Jacob Macdonald from Pinaroo. Apparently an Ex of his came forward, but I don't exactly count the mail as a reliable source. Hopefully the authorities can confirm and throw the book at him.

    Border track

I'm back in Adelaide for a wedding, and my brothers going to take us along the border track for our drive home to Sydney. Would you reccomend doing pinaroo to bordertown, or hit red bluff and then spear off east along the red bluff track? We've got about two and half days up our sleeve's.

    Insurance write-offs and jack-offs

What if it's clamped on? What about a fridge slide that's bolted to the back of a wagon? It's all a bit grey really

I will never, ever sell a vehicle privately again...

Just to be the devils adocate, all the younger buyers I've dealt with have been great, it's the oldies that give me greif!

    Insurance write-offs and jack-offs

Here's one for the brains trust: We know if our 4x4 is written off the insurance company will keep most of the accesories, i.e. lights, barwork etc. That's why we add them into our policy. What about trayback canopies? Especially if it's a jack-off/lift-off design? Can the insurers claim this...

I will never, ever sell a vehicle privately again...

I sold an X-Trail privatley a while ago... that was a shomozzle too! First bloke couldn't pay the full deposit - he gave me a sob story about messy divorce proceedings which didn't really add up, but I agreed to take a $100 deposit and took it off the market. He then strung me along for three...
