Central Australia and Hay River run 24

I don't consider you rude at all. No, I don't have paper maps and my electronic mapping doesn't show either track. I have done the Madigan before and crossed the Simpson 10 times, and this year will be 11. The Hay is new to me but i don't ask for myself as I am asking for someone else.

Madigan Line and Hay River - preferred camp sites

I agree with what you say about unreliable vehicles. But if you can afford the permit and the recovery insurance you should be able to make your vehicle in your words fit for purpose.. Murphys law has it that unfortunately the ones you describe will break down outside the recovery area.

Madigan Line and Hay River - preferred camp sites

Still expencive for what you get.. I've been across 10 times and number 11 later this year.. Never needed a recovery for any one with me in the past.. I choose to take the chance and at those prices i am 4-5K.in front.

Why the 70 Series is proof positive that Toyota have a sense of humour

Not making anything up either. I have HJ47 I bought new in1982 for $12,000 on the road and i kept it just to remind me not to buy another Toyota. Since then I am on my second 79. and this one is heavily modified. When i buy something I buy it for me, and i dont give a stuff what others...

Access to Lake Eyre closure proposal.

Yes you are right about club access, but Lake Eyre is a bit too far for a club weekend.. Do the survey people..I told them it is discrimination against white folks..As far as respect for the local custodiations go, they also need to respect the white towns they run riot in and rob the tourist.

    Feral Cats

As an old farmer i dont believe that. We had a couple of wild cats hang around the hay sheds keeping the mice in control.. They did breed of course but as soon as they were old enough to come out on their own or she brought them out,,,The dogs cleaned them up very quickly. The problem i see...

    Vic Forest

I've been covering the VHC. for close 45 years and i certainly dont know anywhere that the bush has not regenerated. In fact i could show you many places that the recovery has been so thick that you could not walk through the regrowth. Maybe the denuded places you refer to has been caused from...

    Rear locker on a 79.

Top of Actuator. Flexable tube about 70mm. long. Another smaller tube slides into this and it goes up through the wiring loom to about chassis height. I have extended this to come out in the engine bay.

    Rear locker on a 79.

Yes i do remember that as well..IT was suggested that the Actuator breather be extended which i have done. Not conpletely convinced its water from the outside, but may even be condensation, which would make sealing with Silastic useless.

    Rear locker on a 79.

This one has plenty of use especially on the Canning. I have been thinking of pressurising the actuator with compressed air to keep the water out.

    Rear locker on a 79.

I have a 2021 Landcruiser. 79 series with front and rear locker. The problem i'm having is, water getting into the Actuator that engages the rear diff. Front is ok but a little slow engaging. Toyota to their credit have replaced the Actuator twice but i cant see them doing this forever...

    Zeka Spur Track

I started going into Wonnangatta in 1980.. Zeka spur was there then but not where it is now. It was a lot shorter back then, but when Zeka creek was closed and traffic increased on the Spur the surface in a lot of places deteriated and needed a lot of maintance. Sections of the track were...

    Seat Covers

I've tried most over a number of different vehicles and now on Shark Skins. Cool in summer and warm in winter, water proof and can wipe clean with a damp cloth. Easy to fit and the only conplaint i would have is the tiedowns under the seat are a bit piss poor. Otherwise perfect.

    Canning Stock Route trip

From my last conversation to Marilinga, they were not allowing access to the Anne Beadell. Worth checking first as they told me i would have to go back and come up the Stewart Hwy. to coober Pedy.
