Update: I have just done 40,000kms on mine and just had two replaced. Apparently they had 'flow cracks' which were identified by the tyre shop guys, Cooper replaced them free of charge with brand new tyres. So now I have two new ones on the front, and two 1/2 worn ones on the rear...

Yep, usually when I am on the highway I hear a random clang under the wheel arch, just one of the two dozen stones I have been carrying around letting go. I also have a 50mm roof screw in the rear left, hasn't made it through all the rubber!! SO no puncture. But yeah, lots of 10mm stones...

I have 10,000km on mine on a GU7 Patrol and I can't fault them. Not noisy. Good road manners and strong. At 18psi they are excellent on sand, mud, gravel. I am really happy and will get another set in the future.

While I agree with everything you have said, you'd be suprised at how much load is not generated during a snatch. There are some You-Tube videos where they snatch a Pajero UP HILL and OVE A CREST while BOGGED in sand and the total load on the scale they attached to the shackle never got any...

I think the Mitsubishi Forum is heading there that day, so if you have a Pajero or Challenger you can hook up with them. I can't go because I having a baby that day, well my wife is. And I have a Patrol :)

You can get them from most camping shops and online retailers now anyway, they are becoming very common and are all about the same price. A lot of camper trailers seem to be using them now too.

I bought the ARB compressor, portable. I got a discount so it cost the same as the mounted version. Came with the tyre inflater/gauge. Its a very good compressor, and unlike some models that quote high L/min this one only quotes it's min performance under load which is a steady 70L/min. Also...

Waeco battery can be charged by the binding posts just like any normal battery. That means 240v charger, solar, car, whatever.
