Broadwater, Abergowrie State Forest

Campsite Description

I have been going to this park for about 15 years since i was a little kid & it still remains peaceful & family friendly. With the Curtain Fig Tree on the rainforest walk to the 3km return walk up to the overflow (swimming hole) or just off the pontoon in the day area playing in the rapids. Seeing an abundance of wild life this place is spectacular & only a short drive (45km) from Ingham. A must is your own drinking water & aeroguard as there has been known to be march flies and mosquitoes. A word of advice also stick to the water which is flowing as there are warning signs of bullrout (species of stonefish) - I have never seen one or heard of any being stepped on in the time i have been going here. they like to stick to the still leafy pools of the creek. also keep an eye out on those sneaky snakes that appear from time to time. Remember to bring the cricket set or soccer ball for the kids to play around with as there is wide open areas to play in plus a few covered tables & fire rings for the marshmellows on the fire (supply your own wood) otherwise there is gas bbq's and tables in the day area. Check the website for means to pay fees. At time of publication Fees can be paid on line or at the self registration area at the camp grounds.
