Well the Trip has been run and done , Not like last years dump of snow but still highly enjoyable and Great 4xDriving :)
Started at the Reefton Pub , via Smoko Ridge Tk and headed towards Noojee. Then via Loch Valley and up 9 mile rd.
Sadly there was no snow , when we got to the Smurf House it did actually start snowing , which was pretty cool to see , not sleet just nice fluffy snowflakes falling down . Then we went to Mt Matlock .

Still sweet FA but didn't dampen our spirits :)

A bit further on it started snowing again . And came down constantly for a fair while , looked nice and pretty to see. And visibility was good ;)

Once we moved further away towards Mt Terrible the snow stopped. So we had fun on the tracks.

The Weather was actually really mild , light winds , snow showers , followed by burts of sunshine.

10 minutes after this photo the weather turned to shit and at Mt Terrible you couldn't see 4" in front of you.
So we headed to Polletti Tk and made a fast B-Line down to the Pub at Kevington , where we all had rooms booked for the night ;)

    Sunday
After a great feed and few beer's overnight , we had Bacon and Eggs for Breeky the left and headed of to Gaffney's Creek and took Gaffney's Creek Tk.
The whole place was covered in ice and frost , all the puddles were frozen and the rocky sections VERY slippery , lol , Was a great drive from there up to Frenchman's Gap :)

When we got to Frenchman's Gap , was a little bit of snow from the night before.

Came home via Corn Hill Tk and Monument Creek Tk

Washed a bit of the mud off , but all cars will still need a good cleanup.
Sad there wasn't much snow but still was a awesome weekend away , great people , great tracks , so much fun :)

Was a blast mate, Laugh a minute, All the cars ran well with no issues , only had a couple of hillside snatch recoveries .
We did come across a Hi-Lux that was getting dragged out . Had no FWD and had ended up on its roof , but apart from that nothing else to report.
On Sunday we never saw another 4wd the whole way from Gaffney's Creek to Big River.

Looks great mate. Do you know when they put the concrete sleepers in the creek crossing at Frenchmans? I noticed them on a trip last week, last time I went through there a few years ago they weren't

Given the time of year cold and wet
Staying at the keveinton pub and going wheeling from there is a great plan
A few recoveries adds to the fun
Unlucky for the Lux I gather they were not part of your party

Well executed and great report mate

Nope , but they were kind enough to let us pass and keep moving on , which was greatly appreciated on our part.
It was pretty rooted but still running on 2WD only. Youthful Over Excitement the cause . There were about 10 cars in their group so no help needed.

We took another run up there today , just to see if anything was left from earlier this weeks dump.
Came up through Big River , Monument Ck / Corn Hill Tk then back to Mt Matlock.
Was still snow left but really just a giant melt after a few days. Good covering at Corn Hill and Frenchman's Gap , the rest of it was just mud and slush all the way .
One thing we did find disturbing was a group of youngster's in a shitter 80 series at Frenchman's Gap , had a raging fire going and decided to drive off and leave it unattended ??? Snow on ground or not , Its not that cold and still been a dry winter . Stupidity and Ingnorant . We came up behind them as they left
and Jean noticed the flames 1 foot high . How hard is it to put it out really ? Took us 5 mins with all the snow on the ground. Dickheads. I Shake my Head ?
Apart from that was a great day out :)
